Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Letter is a prescription letter from a therapist or doctor explaining your need for your dog. Many places of business such as airlines, hotels, apartment buildings, and restaurants require an ESA letter.

As of 2022 in California, ESA letters are not valid unless the patient has been under the care of a therapist for a minimum of 30 days.
